81REUNION06FAME - LIVE FOREVER
Dear Class of 1981 Member:
Saturday Night Invitation
Sunday Invitation
Fame and fortune certainly were on our minds when we ran out of TA, new diplomas in hand,
to claim our lives in 1981. A lot happens in 25 years, and now we want to know - what are
you famous for? Whether you've been on the cover of Rolling Stone or in the Adventist
Review, are a corporate executive, a nonprofit volunteer, parents of outstanding children,
care provider for sick or elderly family members - all of us can take pride in what we've
done that is meaningful to us. Come to share your proudest achievements with people who
remember your name. Calendar this date: April 21-23, 2006, the 25-year reunion weekend
of Takoma Academy's Class of 1981.
With the beginning of the new year, our big reunion weekend gets closer and closer! We
want everyone to be able to participate in the events of the weekend, so advance planning
definitely is needed. Here are the details of the weekend so far - the actions we need
you to take to be sure you are included begin halfway down this first page.
Schedule of Activities
Friday, April 21, 2006
Evening get together at TA Chapel, organized by the TA Alumni Association. Our class will have a chance to gather on our own in one of the classrooms and we will have light refreshments. Saturday, April 22, 2006
10a.m. Church service at the TA gym, with special seating for our class and a class photo after the service. Our class has arranged Dr. Jim Londis to be the service's main speaker. (Remember, Mrs. Londis was one of our class sponsors). We've also contacted Bruce Freeman and he plans to attend the weekend. To give us time to gather for the photo and spend sometime together after the service, plus prepare for the evening event, we are not organizing a Class of '81 lunch event, but encourage you to take advantage of the potluck lunch organized by the Alumni Association for all Reunion attendees. This will be held following church service in the T.A. cafeteria. 6:30 p.m. The Class of 1981 Live Forever - Cruise around D.C. and Gala Evening
And you'll remember this one forever! Join your classmates for an evening among Washington, D.C.'s famed cherry blossoms and historic monuments, all seen from Spirit Cruise's newest vessel as we sail around the Potomac River! We've arranged a dinner, entertainment and the fabulous cruise tour that will make this Reunion the most memorable of all. Join us for a Hollywood-themed evening featuring our favorite celebrities (us). We will board the ship at 6:30 p.m. with a departure time of 7:00 p.m. from the waterfront harbor of Spirit Cruises in southwest D.C. In addition to a three-hour tour cruise of Washington with an additional hour from 10-11 p.m. at the dock, the evening will include reception/mingling, a full and luscious buffet dinner, DJ entertainment and a program with plenty of time to mingle and catch up with your fellow classmates.
A special touch: we will have tables in the reception area for you to display your talents - professional or special project promotional materials you'd like to share with your classmates about something you're involved with. Cost: $55 per person (parking is $10 in the Spirit Cruises lot; metered street parking and Metro are other options) Sunday, April 23, 2006
For those of us who want a bit more time to catch up and get together one last time for the weekend, we are holding a casual brunch at The Inn at Brookeville Farms in Olney, Maryland at 11 a.m. You can check out more information about them at www.brookevilleinn.com. This will be a plated brunch menu with a choice of two entrees and all the accompaniments in a simple and elegant setting, perfect for your whole family on a spring morning. Cost: $25 per person, adults; $12.50 per child TO DO
If you would like to display or distribute business cards, brochures, photos or other
material during the event, let us know by April 10 and bring your materials to the
ship by 6 p.m. the night of the event for setup.
With warm greetings and much urgency,
